I totally support the decision and looking forward to british actoress Johie Whittaker in her take on the character.

I don't watch the show, but from what I've seen at least on the website I work on most seem cool with the casting.

Severely off-topic? Especially since we get Supergirl back in a few weeks, and Whovians do not get:their Doctor back until next winter?

Very excited. It’s been something they have been teasing for a while (arguable back to the fifth doctor). I think she will do a great job. It’s a loooong wait for the season though.

I think she'll do great. But I won't form an actual opinion for her until we see her in action. Her appearance in the Christmas Special was too brief to form an opinion.

It's about time. 50 years past time, but about time nonetheless. I think, given a fair chance, she'll do the DW lore proud and it will be a gender non-issue as the lore grows and expands. :)

don't watch Doctor Who but sounds like a great idea. After all to my understanding the character is not even human and therefore can be anything.

It won't the first time they've featured a Time Lady on the series; however, it will be the first time the Doctor is a Time Lady. We've had two Romanas and the Rani in the classic series and Missy in the new series.

What's ironic, though, is there were a lot of fans clamoring for a female Doctor. But when Jodie Whittaker was announced as the next Doctor (and not Hayley Atwell as many thought it would be), they complained. To them, I say: "You wanted a female Doctor - you have one! Now deal with it!" :D
I've dreamt of this moment - the two of us teaming up...
